Amir only sells to people who are unconcerned with money.
The luxury fashion designer - whose two-piece suits cost up to $16,000, while his silk ties come in at around $650 - insists he can charge high prices as his customers are more concerned with quality than bargains.
He explained: "The issue is very simple. If someone has to ask the price of something, that means they're not my client. It would be like going to a Bentley dealer and asking how many miles the cars do per gallon. Sure, the Amir tie is probably the most expensive tie in the world. But you're not just buying a tie - you're buying an experience."

Amir - who has dressed a host of famous people, including actors Brad Pitt and George Clooney and US presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama - was inspired to start designing for men in 1978, when he realised men's fashion wasn't catered for as well as women's.
He explained to Britain's Independent newspaper: "At the time, women wore beautiful fabrics. Valentino, Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent were all designing beautiful fabric. But men had what I called bulletproof suits, made out of polyester. So I introduced those men to cashmere, silk, these fabrics that you touch and it melts in your hand. It was a new market. I have always tried to do something different."
